Downs Facility - City of Corona

Client: downs energy

BMLA was brought in by Downs Energy to replace the turf areas at one of their fuel facilities with a more water conscious plant palette. The project consisted of field investigation and the development of a brightly colored, drought tolerant planting theme. The final design included a combination of succulents and vibrant flowering plants complimented by a meandering dry riverbed. Plants were irrigated by converting the pop-up sprays that were in place to a more efficient dripline system, which directs the flow to the root of the plant, eliminating runoff. An interesting challenge was the need to incorporate plants that could adapt well to a switch from potable water to reclaimed water due to reclaimed water's higher salinity.
